On March 2, more than 20 CLUE committee leaders and staff participated in UNITE HERE Local 11’s Worker Committee Convention in Downtown Los Angeles! We joined hundreds of hospitality worker leaders from hotels, stadiums, LAX and other union workplaces – and from throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties, the Inland Empire, and Arizona.
Workers spoke with one voice to prepare for 2023, [Click Here] a year in which they will transform their contracts, their workplaces, their union and their lives. They are fighting to win wage increases so that they can afford to live, bigger pensions so that they can retire with dignity, excellent family health insurance, a right to grow their union, and fair workloads and an end to abuse.
Our faith and community allies were blessed to be there in solidarity, and engage in profound conversations about the ways in which we will show up in solidarity with hospitality workers this year! CLUE’s Executive Director, Reverend Jennifer Gutierrez, also spoke from the stage where she was given a platform to share her wisdom and passion for helping make an impact on labor workers’ issues, and lead the community allies in a pledge of solidarity.
