Hope for Pay Equity for Excluded Long Beach Hospitality Workers
Long Beach Airport and Convention Center Workers are one step closer to a new living wage ordinance that will help them achieve parity with hospitality workers in Long Beach who won the highest wage in the nation last year with the passing of Measure RW. The measure raised minimum wage in Long Beach to the highest in the country, until the passing of the Tourism Workers Rising policy in Los Angeles this year. CLUE has been accompanying workers for more than a year in this campaign that will measurably improve their lives and help them participate in the well being of their communities.
On June 17, 2025, the City Council voted to direct the City Attorney to draft an updated ordinance which will be reviewed in July. After two readings, the ordinance will become law!
The ordinance will raise wages according to the following schedule:
- $23 an hour upon adoption of the final reading of the ordinance
- $25 an hour beginning July 1, 2025
- $26.50 an hour beginning July 1, 2026
- $28 an hour beginning July 1, 2027
- $29.50 an hour beginning July 1, 2028
