In Solidarity With Hotel and Hospitality Workers

Los Angeles and Santa Monica CLUE leaders continued to take leadership and show solidarity with hotel and hospitality workers in various inspiring ways! By the end of the month, four hotels, the Westin Bonaventure, Millennium Biltmore, Loews Hollywood, and Laguna Cliffs Marriott, had reached a contract agreement with the union. Still, the fight for transformative and life-changing contracts continues at dozens of hotels, mainly in Los Angeles and Santa Monica area.

Our leaders from the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica hosted the worker leaders of the Santa Monica hotels for their worker justice committee at the UU church. Our faith leaders and congregants had a meaningful experience meeting, hosting and engaging with the workers as they prepared their strategy for the rest of the month.

Our leaders and staff turned out in force with thousands of hotel workers from dozens of hotels who went on a simultaneous one-day strike, along with allies from other unions and community partners, in Downtown Los Angeles! Our rousing opening rally in Pershing Square was followed by a march to the JW Marriott on Olympic Boulevard and a humongous picket line outside that hotel.
