ACTION ALERT: Support in Case of Strike!

On June 22, 2023 CLUE members from across Southern California joined with tourism workers for a historic action of witness.

We called attention to the conditions that hotel workers face and the incredible opportunity for change. Together we sang, chanted, prayed, danced and waited for change to come. Workers tell us they were inspired and deeply moved by our support.

Now a new phase in this journey begins. Will you join us?

As, nearly 100 UNITE HERE Local 11 contracts expire across our region, workers are preparing to strike. We anticipate thousands of workers will be on the street demanding more for their families.

You are invited to be by their side in this righteous struggle. Here are just some opportunities.

  • Adopt a Picket Line – You can do it as an individual or as a group. Just pick a geographic area and plan on bringing snacks or meals to share and make a weekly commitment.
  • Join a Mutual Aid Debt Relief Committee – Help make calls to creditors to help defer debt during a strike. You will work from a central location (i.e., DTLA, LAX Area, Garden Grove) to offer a powerful form of intimate solidarity.
  • Food Distribution and Preparation – Help box food and distribute to striking workers.

Together, we will build a more just economy where people are valued for their work. This is sacred work.

Solidarity is Sacred

Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice educates, organizes, and mobilizes religious leaders and community members to walk with workers while advocating for good jobs, safe workplaces, and healthy communities.

We can stand with low-wage workers, mostly immigrants and communities of color, because people like you support an organized and connected interfaith movement for economic justice.

Please join the movement to build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.
