The Living Wage Ordinance will be on the Long Beach November Ballot!
CLUE-LA staff hit the pavement side by side with our partners, leaders from the faith community and volunteers to orchestrate a final push to gather petition signatures to qualify for the November ballot by May 4th, 2012. In just six weeks we made the impossible possible: we collected more than thirty thousand verified signatures from registered Long Beach voters. Not only was this a blessed miracle, it is the first time in almost thirty years in California that so many signatures have been gathered in such a short amount of time!
On Friday, May 4th, 2012 workers delivered all the petitions to the City Clerk’s office for validation with loud support from the workers and volunteers who made the success possible. The Long Beach City Council voted on the initiative on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012, and unanimously agreed to place the initiative on the ballot. For more information on the campaign, contact Organizer Guillermo at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks to everyone who came to canvass, volunteer and support worker justice in Long Beach!
