Across the country we’ve seen working families and their right to collectively bargain for a middle class way of life come under attack by big corporate CEOs and the politicians they fund. On March 26, clergy and lay leaders walked with thousands of workers, union members, and community leaders in a massive march through downtown Los Angeles. We marched together to defend our shared dreams of justice, and to protect the future of middle-class America.
CLUE-LA’s clergy leaders offered an interfaith blessing to the immense crowd before the march began. Rev. Norman Copeland, Presiding Elder of AME Church; Shakeel Syed, CLUE board chair and the Executive Director of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California; Rev. Rachel Ciupek-Reed of Mount Hollywood Congregational Church; and CLUE-LA’s Executive Director Rabbi Jonathan Klein each offered remarks and prayers that ignited hope, called for justice, and showed to the world that truly, all religions believe in justice.
Below we’ve shared a slideshow of our photos from the march. Do you have photos to share? We invite you to share them with us on our facebook page.
